Located in the very historical center of Aix-en-Provence, the hôtel Arlatan is a historical "hôtel particulier" (private mansion) built from 1685 for a rich aristocrat called Sextius d'Arlatan. At this time, the rich parliamentary town of Aix-en-Provence was being transformed using the Baroque style and the city was extended with new neighborhoods enabling rich families to invest into magnificent urban homes. 

Hôtel d'Arlatan is an officially classified building (classé Monument historique) for the exterior as well as the interior. The Arlatan - Lauris apartment is protected for its gypsum plaster-work typical of Provencal stately houses of the classical age (XVII & XVIII th centuries). Living in the apartment is like traveling in time back to the "Old Regime", before the French Revolution : you will get the feeling of living and sleeping in a museum !

The apartment is part of a private condominium that encompasses the garden where you are free to enjoy the sun and even have a luncheon if you wish. The garden is the place to meet local residents and enjoy an "apéritif" in the evening. 

The apartment is located in the very center of Aix-en-Provence with all amenities within walking  distance : musée Granet moderne is the other side of rue du Maréchal Joffre and Jeu de Paume theater is the other side of rue de l'Opéra. Even if the location is central to Aix, two minutes away from Cours Mirabeau, the apartment is extremely quiet and peaceful with no sound of traffic. The apartment is the only apartment available for rental in the building and you will be surrounded by friendly citizens of Aix-en-Provence.
